Wow, where did the time go? The holidays are fast approaching! It’s almost that time of year to start pulling out your holiday decorations and getting in the festive spirit.
But wait. While you may think that celebrating the holidays in a smaller space can feel different than decorating your old childhood home, we know that there are so many great ways to decorate your luxury rental unit for the holidays! Whether you’ve downsized into a luxury unit, it’s your first holiday in your space, or you’re redecorating from last year, we have some tips to help make the most out of your holidays at the Barrel Yards!
Decorate Smart
When decorating, a traditional pine tree can be tempting to get you in the festive spirit, but unfortunately due to fire codes we can’t permit live trees in our luxury rental units. Luckily, an artificial tree delivers the same atmosphere without the clean up or hassle. We also know string lights deliver a certain ambience. For your safety and ours, ensure they are for indoor use only to eliminate any potential for a fire or safety hazard.
If you prefer something more subtle than a tree, consider decorating with smaller trees as accent pieces – on a coffee table or a centre spread on your dining table. Alternatively, anything stacked in triangular formation acts as a substitute for a tree. Be creative!
Private Dining
Regardless of the number of guests you’re planning on entertaining, we encourage you to utilize the private dining room, available for all residents to reserve, for your hosting needs. If you prefer a more laid-back gathering, the billiards room is perfect for a relaxing evening complete with a pool table for some friendly competition. Our theatre room also is available for rent – pop in your favourite holiday movies and snack on festive treats!

Make the Most of Your Space
If you prefer to entertain in your unit, there are some ways to free up space and utilize what you have. While a sit-down dinner complete with a centrepiece and name-cards might be on your mind, consider a buffet-style and having different stations for food/drinks, etc. to avoid a cluster in one area!
If preparing and hosting a holiday dinner isn’t up your alley, luckily with close proximity to Uptown, you have your pick of catering. From cheese and deli appetizers at Vincenzo’s to three-course Prix Fixe menus at Nic and Nat’s Uptown 21, your party is sure to be a great success.
