How to Spend The Holiday Season in Uptown Waterloo

Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? As Uptown Waterloo prepares to transition into full Christmas mode, we’re sharing 5 ways to spend this holiday season.

1. Take a stroll through Waterloo Park’s Wonders of Winter

Waterloo Park will soon be transformed into a magical festival of lights! Over 100 colourful and fun displays with over 10,000 lights will fill the park, starting November 30th to New Year’s Day. There will be hot cocoa and hot cider, horse-drawn trolley rides each night, plus festive songs and stories and photos with Santa the weekend of December 20th! Come kick off this year’s Wonders of Winter on Saturday, November 30th at 5:30pm with fireworks, hot cocoa and trolley rides!

2. Start your holiday shopping at Uptown Holiday Hop ‘N Shop

Uptown Waterloo will be full of Christmas cheer from December 6th to 8th! 32 Uptown Waterloo businesses will be offering fun Christmas specials and activities for the Waterloo community to participate in! Bring a toy and receive a free appetizer at Prohibition Warehouse and Kentucky Bourbon & BBQ, get a free doughnut when you bring your own container at Zero Waste Bulk, enjoy a Christmas Comedy Show at the Princess Cafe and more!

3. Ring in the Holiday Season at the Official Christmas Tree Lighting

Feel like you’re in a Hallmark Christmas movie and attend this year’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Waterloo Town Square! On December 6th at 7pm, the Christmas tree will be illuminated to celebrate the beginning of the Holiday season in Uptown Waterloo! There will be hot beverages and treats, Christmas music and some free holiday swag PLUS Santa Claus himself will be lighting the tree! For more information, click here.

4. Skate in the heart of Uptown Waterloo

Be prepared to dust off your skates and make your way down to Waterloo Public Square! Skate under the Christmas tree and take in our beautiful Uptown Waterloo! (The City of Waterloo has not announced an opening date yet, but should be mid-December.)

5. Watch Out for Live Nutcracker Ballerinas

This year, the Nutcracker Ballet is coming to Uptown Waterloo! Keep an eye out, you might stumble upon a dance of the sugar plums in Uptown business windows throughout December! Visit Uptown Waterloobia for all of your Uptown holiday updates!
